Before pre-ordering a NEO home robot

What 1X NEO order terms, basic autonomy, Expert Mode and privacy documentation establish for a prospective home buyer.

Research edition · Sources are linked beside the claims.

A reservation is a waitlist place

On 8 October 2026, 1X lists NEO at $20,000 for its ownership option or $499 per month for its subscription. The order page requests a $200 deposit and advertises US deliveries beginning in 2026. Those statements do not establish that a particular address can receive a robot immediately. [1]

The pre-order terms place the customer on a waitlist for an invitation to buy or subscribe. They give no promised invitation date. The deposit is refundable until 14 days after the invitation is sent, after which the terms make it non-refundable. Final pricing and add-ons may change before order acceptance. A subscriber can also face a minimum initial period specified in the invitation. [2]

Ask about one household task

The product page describes basic autonomy for early owners and scheduled Expert Mode for unfamiliar chores. A 1X expert can remotely supervise the robot during those sessions. Mobile-app and VR remote control are also listed. These are distinct operating modes, with different demands on the household and the service provider. [3]

For a laundry trial, specify the basket, garment types, starting position and destination. Repeat the job after moving the basket. Record correctly placed items, elapsed minutes and every human intervention. Ask which steps use basic autonomy, Expert Mode or direct remote control.

Research progress has a separate scope

1X's world-model report describes robot actions derived from generated video. It also reports depth errors, difficult dexterous tasks and the need for faster, more reactive operation. Its task studies do not establish unattended performance throughout an occupied home. A buyer needs the software version and task scope supplied with the actual order. [4]

Clarify camera access before the visit

The public privacy policy covers website use and the other interactions it describes. It does not give a complete retention schedule for recordings from a robot inside a home. Request that information with the offer. [5]

  • Ask what a remote expert can see and hear during a session.
  • Request the controls for starting, ending and blocking remote access.
  • Get separate answers for live viewing, recording, training use and deletion.
  • Check how household members and visitors are informed.

Keep the order and trial evidence together

Before paying the balance, match the written offer to the task trial, service hours, connectivity requirements and repair arrangements. Include the people who will share the space in that decision. A product reservation, a successful research task and a supported household service each answer a different question.
